Day 25 – Funniest Sailor Moon moment

Bad Sailor Moon Fan Who Now Cheating the Challenge:

  1. So yeah I’ve been a bad Sailor Moon fan I didn’t finish this 30 day challenge. I’m pretty sure that it’s been more than 30 days what can I say I’m a bit of a maverick when it comes to rules. Due to my sheer laziness I intend to finish the rest of the challenge not that any one is going to read this.

Day 22 – Sailor Moon moment that upsets you

When Saphire is killed by Wiseman and poor Prince Diamond is too late to save him :( it’s the part with Prisma when she knows he’s going to die when he leaves his jacket. I might have cried (pretty sure a tear slid down my cheek) but this really upset me just imagining my little brother being murdered.

Day 23 – Sailor Moon moment that makes you happy

I like it when the sailor scouts are just normal girls hanging out in the park, the shrine or shopping. The interaction between the characters where they don’t have to pretend to be grown-up; they can just be teenage girls. I just love the interaction between Rei (Raye) and Usagi (Serena) just the bickering but the love and respect underneath.

Day 24 – Sailor Moon moment that makes you cry

I cry at the second to last episode of Season R partly because I knew Fox Kids were never going to get new episodes. It’s awful because the last episode we were introduced to new bad guys and possible scouts which was like dangling heroine in front of Pete Doherty. But part of it was because Usagi (Serena) was going to sacrifice herself to saves her friends; the music is emotive in both the sub and dub. We also say goodbye to Chibiusa (Rini).

Day 25 – Funniest Sailor Moon moment

I just remember when I was watching the sub, it was the season with the Sailor Stars and Seiya was at Usagi’s house and he took a shower there. The sailor scouts came round and it was just funny how ChibiChibi stole his towel. I know that if it were ever translated into English they would never show this which is a shame.

Day 26 – Negaforce, Black Moon Clan, Death Busters, Dead Moon Circus, or Shadow Galactica?

Considering I only saw the first two seasons (well they’re the only ones that I can actually remember) I am going to say the Negaforce (the Dark Kingdom) because they turned Tuxedo Mask bad. They also made Nephrite and Molly have this beautifully tragic relationship. Also loved Malakite and Zoisite relationship (loved it more when I found out Zoisite was a man). It was the first evil that triggered the Sailor Scouts so I think we have a lot to be thankful for. The history of the Negaforce and the Moon Kingdom was a good storyline especially the rainbow crystal warriors.

Day 27 – Scout you are most like

I’m going to say Minako (Mina) because we’re both Libras, long blonde hair, blue eyes. If you asked me five years ago I would have said Usagi but I don’t think I’m that clumsy. I like Minako - she’s funny, a bit ditsy and she has a great room with lots of stuffed toys. She has a rocky past with relationships yet hopefully optimistic. She also gets her sayings mixed up, happens to me all the time: ‘The cold is floor’ - real people language: ‘The floor is cold‘

Day 28 – Scout you are least like

I’d say Lita; she’s a great cook, I imagine a good house-wife type. She’s strong, tall, dark hair. She’s in love with every boy that reminds her of the senior from her old school that broke her heart. She’s really quite graceful and courageous. She is everything I’m not in a good way.

Day 29 – Senshi or Starlights?

I don’t think this should count as a question because both types of solider are different. Starlights are men that transform into women - how cool is that? Plus they’re in a famous band! The sailor Senshi’s are just ordinary girls with an extraordinary task. Possibly because I’m a girl I can relate more to the Senshi’s but if someone ever said: ‘Wanna transform into a man for awhile’ I wouldn’t pass up the chance. The Starlights and they’re kind of transgender/cross-dressing fiasco made me interested in Japan (how can this be considered the norm for a kids TV show, wonder how their views differ to mine etc) but the Sailor Senshis set up the story and made four seasons without the starlights. I like both I don’t think there could be one group without the other.

Day 30 – Favorite Moon cat

I only know two: Luna and Artemis. I know they have a daughter called Diana (well I think I know). I don’t want to pick really. They were good mentors who put their lives on the line for the sailor senshi many times. They proved themselves loyal, sweet, funny and I don’t have to choose.

Day 21 – One thing you wished the show had

A fat panda who could play the mandolin with his feet.

Day 20 – Worst dressed Scout

I don’t believe there is should a thing. They all dress in the colours that show their individual personalities and this is a really artificial, shallow question.

I think Naoko Takeuchi spent a lot of time and effort on coming up with these outfits. It’s kind of insulting; I think each character looks good in their outfit. Plus all the outfits are similar except the colour so this question is kind of a double-ended sword.

Next question….

Day 19 – Sailor Moon episodes subbed or dubbed?

I grew up on the first two seasons of dubbed. I love the familiarity of the dubbed version. Though a couple years ago I watched the rest of the Sailor Moon series, in the season where we meet the Sailor Starlights I just remember laughing loads because of the Japanese humour. In the sub there’s more context to each character, each relationship, Japanese culture and the humour is so dirty.

So younger Amy loves the dub, the familiar voice (Is it the third season where Sailor Moon has a new annoying voice - bloody awful!), and younger Amy wouldn’t know a lot about dirty sex things or Japanese context.

Older Amy likes the sub better, the uncanny familiarity of the whole series - it all looks the same but there’s some else there that wasn’t there before (like in Beauty and the Beast), the dirty humour and the kind of ‘controversial’ topics that the dub kind of glazed over - Mamoru’s age different, dieting, etc.

For 20 years after Marilyn’s death Joe Dimaggio had a dozen red roses delivered to her crypt three times a week. He never remarried. It is claimed that Joe’s last words were: “I’ll finally get to see Marilyn.”
